The Help

The truly unusual has happened.

A movie is as good as the book.

Maybe even better...but don't quote me on that. ;)

Laughed and cried while watching the The Help today, and really, really enjoyed it.

Then I came across this article by author Kathryn Stockett describing her 60 rejections.

Here's how she starts out... "If you ask my husband my best trait, he’ll smile and say, 'She never gives up.' But if you ask him my worst trait, he’ll get a funny tic in his cheek, narrow his eyes and hiss, 'She. Never. Gives. Up.'"

You have to read it. Find it here. And thank me later.

Thanks, Valerie. I haven't read the book or seen the movie. I may do both at some point.

Her story of determination is fantastic!

I absolutely could not put the book down. I felt as if I became every single character she so beautifully narrated from. There were times when I forgot I wasn't a black woman from the south in the 60's, ha ha!! We are having a girl's night on Friday to go see the movie. BTW, how did you get to see it early? And, how is your own book coming along?

I'm seeing it tomorrow! Can't wait. Talked like I was from the south for weeks after reading the book!!

Stacy, we had a girl's "day" out and saw it at the 11:15 showing this morning after sending all the kidlets off to school.

As for my book, I guess I need to report on it's status, so watch my blog for that.

What a great link and inspiring story (of her acceptance letter). I haven't read it yet, but it's my book group's choice this month (so it's on my desk) and we'll go see the movie too. Thanks for the review because it got me excited to read it.
