SCORE!

I scored two new books today via the postal system to add to my ever growing list of books to read. Keeping Keller by Tracy Winegar I won in Heather Justeson's blog giveaway, I guess because of my mad commenting skills. (Translation: It's a good thing these blog contests are completely random, otherwise I would never be winning awesome books.) The other, Chocolate Roses by Joan Sowards, was sent by Walnut Springs Publishing because I get to review it right here on my blog in August.

My RE-reading of Hunger Games and now Catching Fire has been keeping me up at night. It's so ridiculous...I've read these books before and still at the end of each chapter I'm sucked in and have to keep reading. I tell myself, "Okay, just one more chapter," but it never is.

I'm a few chapters into Shiver and someone needs to convince me it's worth it to continue. I've heard great things about it (and the writing is good), but so far she's pretty much just been staring at a wolf. I read When You Reach Me which was an entertaining ride, but when I finished I wondered why I had taken the journey. Reading fiction is like climbing into a car with the author and going for a ride. I want the ride to be amazing, but it's also got to take me somewhere. The destination is extremely important.

(I hesitate to say anything because both of these books are very successful, but for that reason, hopefully, my measly little opinion won't matter much and they won't blast me when they see what meager fare I have to offer with my book when it's published)

Now back to HG and CF, the two books I'm obsessed with. I have no idea how it will all be resolved with Book 3, but right now I'm going to have to say TEAM GALE all the way! Wait...maybe TEAM PEETA! I can't decide!

What about you? Which team are you?

How you feel about SHIVER is how I feel about the much praised THE PASSAGE.

I swear, one paragraph will take up a whole page, there is more backstory than story, and he tells the story ... doesn't show it.

And he gets a three book, movie deal. (Shakes his head.)

I really enjoy your blog, Roland

I am STILL needing to read the Hunger Games series. And the 3rd one comes out August 24th! Ahhhh! I picked it for my book club in August, so FINALLY I'll be reading it. It's a bit sad that I only get to finish 1 book a month. 2 if I'm really lucky.

I'm currently reading "The Looking Glass Wars" and loving it. Can't wait to finish it and read the rest of the series!

I'll let you know what team I'm on as soon as I get my hands on book 1 and two - i've been timing it so I wouldn't have to wait very long for book three!

I'm looking forward to reading Chocolate roses.

I finished Guernsey and though it was slow at the start, it wrapped up well and now I want to go write letters.

The problem with flitting about on writer's websites is that my list of books I MUST read grows daily. I will need to look into getting more hours in my day and more money in my bank account.

It is great to see other people's opinions of books. Shiver has been on my shelf waiting to be read for quite some time now but others keep moving in front of it. So I will compare later. I recently started Passages and so I am still undecided there but it has been all back story so far but think things are going to start being exciting soon I hope. I love Hunger Games and Catching Fire. Tamara waited just the right time. I keep switching teams I like both young men and I want all three to be happy and alive at the end and I don't think that will happen.

Susan, NO! I didn't even think of the possibility that one of them might not survive Book 3, thus making Katniss' choice for her. YIKES!

I would have to say I'm Team Gale. Although I do love Katniss and Peeta together though too, so its a tough choice. I just think that Katniss and Gale have always been together so it feels kinda wrong for her to be with Peeta...but I just don't know. I CANT wait to read the last one!
